This morning I attempted a short run in hazy damp warmth of an early summer shower. For the most part, all was well with my knee. The dull ache that usually crops up eventually did, but this time it was on the side of my knee, not the top. Perhaps it’s more of an IT band issue now? Who knows.
I picked up the pace for the last few minutes. So exhilarating. I can go fast and I love going fast. But now, as I walk around campus snapping pictures of the summer writing programs in class, I can feel my knee more than I did before. It seems like I’m going to have to stop running for longer than two days if I want this to get any better. Anyone who’s ever had runner’s knee, get at me. Despite it being the most common injury for runners, most of my friends just have IT Band issues. I need suggestions. Or words of comfort.
There is hope for recovery, however. One of the leaders mentioned that he was able to use the Williams gym and pool, and all he had to do was sign a piece of paper. So perhaps I can cross train and aqua-jog, and lift a bit. I’m starting to miss my track muscles.
